Live Music Under the Stars: Our Weekend Evenings at the Resort

There is something undeniably magical about music played outdoors in the mountains. The notes travel differently up here — carried on cool pine-scented air, absorbed by ancient trees, swallowed gently by the valley below. At Kasauli Hills Resort, we have long believed that the evening is not just the end of a day but the beginning of its most beautiful chapter.

That is why our weekend live music evenings have become one of the most cherished traditions at the resort — a ritual guests return for, plan around, and remember long after they have returned to the city.

The Setting

Our outdoor performance space sits under an open sky, surrounded by pines that frame the twinkling lights of the valley in the distance. As dusk falls and the temperature dips just enough to make a warm shawl feel wonderful, guests begin gathering. Some come straight from a day of hiking, relaxed and glowing. Others arrive fresh after a long soak in the Jacuzzi, carrying a glass of wine. Children run across the lawn while parents settle into chairs, grateful for a moment where nothing needs to be rushed.

The stage is simple and unpretentious, because the mountains are already the grandest backdrop imaginable.

The Music

We curate our weekend performances to reflect the mood of the hills — soulful, unhurried, and warm. You might hear a local folk musician playing the traditional Himachali naati, the string melodies weaving stories of mountain life that stretch back generations. Another evening might bring a guitarist playing acoustic covers — classic Hindi film songs, gentle Bollywood melodies, or western folk that blends effortlessly with the mountain air.

We have had young artists from Chandigarh and Delhi debut at our resort, and seasoned performers who have played in some of India’s finest venues. What they all share is an understanding that this audience is here not to be dazzled, but to be moved.

Occasionally, a spontaneous jam session breaks out when musicians from different evenings meet at the resort. Those are often the most memorable performances of all.

Food and Drinks Under the Stars

Our kitchen ensures that the live music evenings are paired with the right culinary experience. A special outdoor menu features warm soups — tomato shorba, sweet corn, or a robust Himachali recipe — alongside grilled snacks and small plates that pair beautifully with our selection of cocktails, mocktails, and local brews.

The bonfire on cooler nights adds to the atmosphere. Guests huddle around it between songs, sharing stories, laughing at things that feel funnier in the mountains, and looking up at a sky so full of stars it seems almost impossible after the light-polluted skies of city life.

A Tradition Worth Planning For

Many of our guests now specifically plan their stays around our weekend music evenings. Families arrive on Friday, spend Saturday exploring the hills, and gather on Saturday evening for the performance before a relaxed Sunday morning with breakfast and valley views.

For couples, it becomes the kind of evening they will describe years later — the night we sat under the stars in Kasauli, the music playing softly, the mountains all around us, not wanting it to end.

For solo travellers, the evenings offer a rare gift: the opportunity to be surrounded by warmth and music without having to make conversation, simply being present in a beautiful place at a beautiful moment.
